The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) hosted a Construction Industry Outreach Forum on October 7, 2011 to present the TEXRail project to the Construction Industry; discuss the project schedule and the proposed project delivery plan; and finally to solicit feedback from the Construction Industry on the current delivery plan and ways to improve project implementation. View the presentation. A variety of potential Prime Contractors, Sub-Contractors, and Consultants were in attendance. View the sign-in sheet. Interested Contractors were encouraged to schedule one-on-one with The T and Program Management Consultant to further discuss the project.
In March 2011, The T selected the engineering firm of CH2M HILL as their Program Management Consultant for the TEXRail Commuter Rail Project. In July 2011, CH2M HILL mobilized to the Project Office site located across Pine Street from The Ts Headquarters building. The CH2M Hill team will serve as an extension of The Ts staff and will provide the resources necessary to implement TEX Rail including design and construction oversight; procurement and contracting assistance; project cost and schedule control; quality assurance; and other ancillary program services.
This summer the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) assigned a Project Management Oversight Consultant (PMOC) to the TEX Rail Project the firm of Stantec. The role of the PMOC is to assist the FTA in overseeing the TEX Rail Project from a Federal FTA New Starts perspective. The FTA New Starts program is a federal funding source for new and expanding transit projects. Having a PMOC assigned to the project is a first step in the process of obtaining Federal funding for the project.
A preliminary engineering project team is led by URS and includes a number of specialized teams whose focus is transit planning, safety, public involvement, and other design and statistical elements.
